JANET Manyowa and her husband, Munyaradzi, took fans by surprise on Tuesday night with their public display of affection at the listening session of their latest single titled “Somlandela”.
The celebrity couple kissed and hugged on the night they unveiled the accompanying visuals of “Somlandela”, leaving guests in awe.
Janet, who is ruling the roost in gospel music at the moment, told guests that Munyaradzi was behind her success.
“I would like to thank my husband who has always been there for me over the years.
“He is my number one fan who can disapprove or approve of my projects. It is a blessing having him around today at this listening session,” she said.
The diva, who sang the latest track in Ndebele, Shona and English, believes she nailed it by singing in three national languages.
“It is a song that we believe will also cater for the Ndebele-speaking fans.
“I sang it in Ndebele and this has made this track unique in that my Ndebele-speaking fans have been itching for such a project,” she said.
The listening session, which attracted arts regulatory chiefs, lived to expectations as guests showed unity.
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe executive director Napoleon Nyanhi, who was dapper in a navy blue suit, endorsed the video as a masterpiece.
“This is a good example of a project which meets international standards. We are proud of you for uniquely telling the Zimbabwe story in this way,” said Nyanhi.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Pastor Stanley Gwanzura, who has been working closely with Janet over the years.
“She has nailed it, this is awesome,” said the celebrated master of praise and worship.
Taking questions from the guests, Munyaradzi was humbled by the fans’ support.
He also surprised his wife with a bouquet of flowers as a present.
“I love you my wife for everything, I have a small present for you tonight,” said Munyaradzi before he kissed Janet in the packed Hyundai Showroom Motor City Complex in Graniteside, Harare.
In an interview with The Herald Arts, he assured fans that they were set to release their sixth album titled “Worship Moments” on October 25.
“After this event, we are now planning to launch our sixth album at The Venue in October. We wanted to launch an EP first but decided to come up with this album.
“It is our sixth album which comes after celebrating our 10th anniversary in music,” he said.
The manager has vowed to continue investing in videos following the endorsement of “Somlandela” as an instant hit.
“We will continue channelling resources in visuals as was the case with this one.
“In this era, musicians should prioritise visuals because fans can easily relate to them.
“Beautiful visuals can easily sell and we will continue doing our best,” he said.
Besides winning regional and local gongs, the gospel diva’s team continues working hard.
This has made them distinct as they are now ruling the roosts. Regional collaborations have catapulted her to international acclaim as the appeal of the diva’s music continues to burn a trail of success.
