“Chirangano” – scooped the top three spots during last year’s Coca Cola Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 chart show.
Even though he won big in the chart show it was not enough to convince his critics that he was a talented artiste and one to watch out for. However, he changed the perception of many with the release of “Tsviriyo” which gave birth to club anthems like “Sisiriya” featuring superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and “Ngoda” and the title track “Tsviriyo” which are receiving heavy rotation on almost every radio station in the land and he has been unstoppable.
He has been holding sold-out gigs every weekend. But Jah Prayzah has other party songs which make up his playlist and chances are that tonight’s gig will leave lasting memories. His collaboration with Suluman Chimbetu has worked magic and the two buddies are at the top of their game.
The lanky singer commands a huge following throughout Zimbabwe with his sing- along tunes. Fans in the Diaspora will also have an opportunity to witness the popular “soldier dance”.
Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, who is hosting the farewell gig, was equally enthusiastic saying it was a show with a difference.
“We are not leaving anything to chance because it is his (Jah Prayzah) last show before going to the UK.
“There is going to be surprises here and there but ultimately we promise the best in music,” he said.
According to Chipaz, Jah Prayzah is billed to perform at the “Sing Along Gig” that features other heavy hitters Mtukudzi, Suluman Chimbetu and Alick Macheso at the Andy Millar Hall, Harare Showgrounds, on May 31.
