HARARE City attacking midfielder Brendon Jeremani has called for unity as the Sunshine Boys look to defend their lead in the MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League ahead of their trip to Chegutu Pirates at Pfupajena this afternoon.
The Sunshine Boys top the table with 28 points from 15 matches, one ahead of Black Rhinos with the promotion race entering a decisive phase.
Jeremani, who has scored four goals this season, said the team must stay focused with every game now crucial.
“I encourage my teammates to unite and be one as we go into the title chase.
“We know every game is important now and we need to continue working together,” Jeremani said.
City have been consistent this season with eight wins, four draws and three losses, scoring 20 goals and conceding nine.
Jeremani shares the club’s scoring charts with Emmanuel Meleka, who leads on seven goals.
The midfielder said fan support would be key in the run-in.
“Our supporters are passionate and caring. When you play you feel motivated because of the support they give us,” he said.
Chegutu Pirates sit on 11th place with 19 points but they have caused some upsets this season.
A win for City will strengthen their grip at the top with Black Rhinos, Golden Eagles and Ngezi Stars U19 all in pursuit.
