JET MIRAGE from the Debra Swanson yard was outstanding during this past weekend’s 1 260 metres Borrowdale Sprint after she beat ten other horses who had taken to the starting stalls.
Carrying a top weight of 60.0kg, Jet Mirage, who had Jeffrey Syster on the pedals, narrowly beat Majestic Warrior who had Kelvin Derere by 0.10 lengths.
The six-year-old son of Visionaire (USA) was bred by Lammerskraal Stud and he is owned by Messrs C J Smith, G M Littleford, S H Murray, and P C Rugg.
It was the third win for Syster who is set to move to the United Kingdom before year end.
Syster also saddled for wins with Pragmatist in the Pinnacle Plate and Dark Future in the Maiden Plate earlier on the day.
Third place went to Var Aglow, who had seasoned jockey Morgan Nyamagwete, as Wantage completed the top four.
Borrowdale Sprint had US$1500 in stakes with prize monies of US$750, US$350, US$225, and US$150 for the top four finishes respectively.
The other race of the day saw New Galaxy, winning the 1700m Classified Stakes, with Brewer in the irons.
New Galaxy has been consistent this season having registered her fifth win from 10 starts, and was ahead of Karvani by 0.25 lengths.
Karvani finished ahead of “Duchess of War” and “Trust Me’.”
The four-year-old New Galaxy is trained by Thomas Mason and was bred by Tawny Syndicate and she is owned by Mesdames A G Mason, Edith Tapfuma, R A Dorward, S P Moyo, and G Tafeni, D T Machingaidze and Dr Ronald Mhizha.
