RENOWNED Marabi artiste Majahawodwa “Jeys Marabini” Ndlovu has shelved work on a new album and is concentrating on promoting acoustic nights at different venues in the country. In an interview with Chronicle Entertainment yesterday, Jeys said the acoustic nights were for fans who want a relaxed atmosphere away from the noise of a live open show.
He said the album Isilo, released in September was still doing well and he would not rush into producing another one.
“I will start working on the new album later on in the year. I want fans to enjoy Isilo first. As of now I am working on the acoustic nights where I will be playing in a serene environment while people are having dinner listening to music,” said Jeys.
He said on February 8 he would be performing at the Indaba Book Café to mark the beginning of the acoustic nights.
“I want to take these acoustic nights to the whole country. I will also take them to Book Café in Harare so that fans see the other side of me. At the Indaba Book Café there will be a three course meal included in the entry charge,” said Jeys.
He said the acoustic nights were a reinvention of his musical profile in order for him to appeal to different markets.
“My last album Isilo is a predominantly acoustic album. I will be playing those tracks from the album for the fans for the one and a half hour show. It is another direction that I am taking. I feel I can benefit from new markets in Zimbabwe,” said Jeys.
He said the Isilo video was getting airplay on DStv channel 1KZN and free to air channel, Zambian MuviTv.
“They are impressed with the quality of the video. I have since submitted it to BosTv and I hope they will play it like their regional counterparts,” said Jeys.
