BULAWAYO musician Jeys Marabini will this year be the star attraction at the Gwanda Agricultural Show, which roars to life on 8 August.
The show will run until 10 August. The Secretary General for the Gwanda Agricultural show, Percy Vela said this year’s event promises to be a good one in terms of entertainment, as a number of groups will perform there.
“We are bringing in Jeys Marabini, as our main act and a number of activities are lined up for the show. We will have dance groups, tug-of-war and police horse and dog drills,” he said.
Jeys Marabini encouraged fans to come in numbers and see him perform promising to give his best performance during the event.
“Gwanda people should come in their numbers to see us perform. We are not just going there for fun, but we mean business and we will give them our best to them,” he said.
Dance groups such as Ghetto Smurfs, Red Boys and Bolamba Traditional Dance group from Kafusi will be supporting acts.
Vela said Jeys is famous in the area and the committee found it necessary to bring him in for the family fun days. “Gwanda people will be happy to see him,” he said.
Jumping castles will be available as entertainment for the kids and drum majorettes from the province’s five schools have been give a chance to showcase their talents.
A tug-of-war involving local mine workers has been arranged and the preliminary rounds will be on 9 August with the finals set for the following day.
Meanwhile, Vela who is also the Matabeleland South National Arts Council of Zimbabwe provincial programmes officer said Chibuku Road to Fame provincial finals for Matabeleland South had been moved.
The finals were set for last Saturday will now take place on 24 August.
Vela said this year’s edition has been postponed because elections.
