Jilted lover hangs self

The girlfriend had ditched him for another man and this did not go down well with the deceased.

Jefta Mataruse (30) who was on teaching practice at Makasi Primary School under Chief Charumbira, allegedly killed himself after his longtime lover identified as Ms Laina Mawere from Shurugwi dumped him.

The incident occurred in Charumbira communal lands.
Masvingo provincial police spokesman Inspector Tineyi Matake yesterday said Mataruse left a suicide note.

The note said he had taken his life after being ditched by his girlfriend.
Insp Matake said Mataruse’s body was taken to Masvingo General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

According to sources, Mataruse left Makasi Primary School in Charumbira around 11pm on Tuesday and went to see his former lover before killing himself at the sister’s place.
