ZENGEZA West legislator Job Sikhala and his Chitungwiza North counterpart, Godfrey Karakadzayi Sithole, were yesterday remanded in custody in relation to incitement of public violence charges pending bail ruling tomorrow.

The duo was back in court yesterday before deputy Chief Magistrate Gibson Mandaza where the bail application was concluded. The two initially appeared in court last Thursday and have been in custody since then.

The court heard that on the evening of May 24, at Chibhanguza Shopping Centre, Nyatsime a lady, Moreblessing Ali, was kidnapped.

Her body was later found on 11 June 2022, mutilated, in a well at Mukandi

homestead, Nyatsime, which is the home of a suspect, Pias Jamba.

It is the State’s case that Sikhala claimed that he was engaged by Moreblessing Ali’s family to represent them as a family lawyer.

The State had it that on June 12 Sikhala posted a video clip on social media inciting members of the public to engage in acts of public violence in seeking revenge for the death of Ali.

He uttered the following words:

“That area has now been turned into a terror zone and it is up to the citizens of this country to make sure that it is liberated but this death of Moreblessing Ali, let me tell them, and also everybody in Zimbabwe, the whole family shall perish.

“We are going to revenge, whichever way, the family shall suffer, you might not hear about this family once more again, it will be wiped from the face of the earth, if they are not going to apologise as soon as possible there are many people who have volunteered to do the business for them to make sure that the spirit of Moreblessing Ali will not rest.”

It is the State’s case that as a result of the incitement, members of CCC party ran amok around the Nyatsime area assaulting people, damaging vehicles and houses.

One two-roomed house, belonging to ZANU PF Councillor for the Nyatsime area, George Murambatsvina, was burnt.
