MEMBERS of Johane Masowe Chishanu (Muchinjikwa weGore Chena International) on Sunday met to pray for guidance on the implementation of the National Development Strategy 2 and for the continued leadership of the President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The group, which visits hospitals and prisons across the country to offer deliverance, has been involved in public affairs, demonstrating the intersection of faith and national development.

Speaking to Zimpapers in Glen Norah B, Johane Masowe Chishanu Graspa leader Madzibaba Onwell Wengesa said the group’s reach extended beyond spiritual matters.

“We are actively combating social issues such as child abuse, substance abuse, and early marriages, which are prevalent within certain religious sects,” he said.

“Through our efforts, we educate men on the importance of respecting their families, and have also visited prominent hospitals, including Sally Mugabe Hospital, Parirenyatwa Hospital, and Harare Hospital, where we pray for divine intervention in ailments that pose a challenge to medical professionals, such as cancer.”.

He said the church is mobilising a mass clean-up campaign of Trabablas Interchange, as part of their efforts to promote community welfare and issues surrounding national policy.

“We are organising a comprehensive clean-up initiative next month, underscoring our commitment to promoting cleanliness and community pride, as reflected in our responsibility to maintain the dignity of Trabablas Interchange, a key landmark in our community,” he said.

The church’s women’s committee leader, Madzimai Mandra Vengesa, emphasised inclusive participation and denounced negative stereotypes about women in apostolic churches.

“Referring to women belonging to apostolic sects as ‘nyokahuru’ should cease once and for all, because women are pillars who uplift the family, strengthen the business sector, and contribute meaningfully to the church and society at large,” she said.

“The Holy Spirit desires equality, and it is time for women to be recognised as equal partners in faith and community life.”

Johane Masowe Chishanu Graspa, Waterfalls leader Madzibaba Stalin Mapumhangozi, said the President’s vision deserves the support of every citizen.

“His Excellency Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa ensures that this Second Republic leaves no one and no place behind,” he said.

“It is therefore our sacred duty to gather here and pray for the soil, for its people, for the nation, and for its leadership.

“A nation that prays together, works together, and prospers together. Our collective strength lies in our shared commitment to peace and progress.

“As spiritual leaders and citizens, we must continue to uplift our country in prayer, for only through faith and hard work can Zimbabwe achieve the vision set before us.”
