BINDURA United coach, John Wilo, has lamented the current problems facing the club which led to their defeat to Lake Harvest at Chipadze on Wednesday.
Bindura lost 0-1 to Lake Harvest in their backyard and it appears their dream to fight for the World Navi Northern Division One soccer league title is slowly fading away.
The Mashonaland Central based side is now 11 points behind log leaders Gunners.
Speaking to The Herald yesterday Wilo said he was forced to field a reserve side as some of his regular players, including Quality Kangazi, Daniel Kamunenga, Michael Gutu, Ganizani Chipondo and Alisara Kondowe, did not turn up for training ahead of this game.
“We used a reserve team because some of the players went AWOL, six of them, one said he had an injury and the other five I don’t know where they are, one of them is a midfielder.
“It started from that game we lost to Commando. I think things are not looking good.
“And also after that loss (to Commando) we had one week without playing, so some of the players tended to relax,” said Wilo.
Wilo could not reveal the circumstances behind the players’ decision not to turn up for the game.
“As of now I cannot disclose the reasons but the players know why. We don’t have time, now that we play at least two games a week it’s going to be hard to come back.
“I have got a lot of reasons why we are going down but I cannot disclose the reasons because each and every team goes through a bad spell at some point,” said Wilo.
Club secretary, Elias Banda, said they owe the players some money for two matches.
However, Banda could not say if that was the reason behind the recent developments.
