PARENTS are encouraged to be there with their children during school functions. If parents are always too busy to join children during events like speech and prize- giving days, soon the children will be too busy to be serious with their school work. Nothing motivates a child more than discovering how his or her parents value his or her core business, which is learning, especially outstanding achievement. There is nothing better for a child than receiving an award or prize for outstanding achievement in the eyes of the child’s parent or parents.
Some parents focus on their child’s academic achievement and ignore or overlook behaviour. This is a dangerous oversight.
Brilliant students, who are behavioural transgressions unto themselves and those around them, are moral time bombs. Soon they will shame their parents, teachers and guardians, and finally themselves.
