Jose after Zlatan

MANCHESTER. — Jose Mourinho confirmed his interest in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a phone call with Wayne Rooney.

Starsport exclusively revealed in March that Manchester United were plotting a sensational swoop for Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish superstar is out of contract and has confirmed he is leaving Paris St-Germain.

According to the Sunday People, Mourinho got in touch with Rooney on Friday following his appointment at Old Trafford.

Mourinho informed Rooney of his transfer plans and told the England international that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is taking care of negotiations.

The former Chelsea boss also reassured Rooney he would remain as United skipper.

Mourinho views the 30-year-old as important to maintaining a united dressing room. — Daily Star-Mailonline.
