Former Chronicle and Sunday News reporter, Busani Ncube (33) died on the spot yesterday when he was involved in a car accident in Bulawayo.
Fellow journalist, Nkululeko Sibanda (33) popularly known as “City-man”,  and Ms Ntombikayise Nkala (21), who were in the same vehicle with Ncube were rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals with head injuries. The two were said to be in a critical condition.

Ncube was driving a Mercedes Benz ML along Basch Street when the vehicle side-swiped a Mazda Famillia vehicle at a robot controlled intersection, with Khami Road. Witnesses said Ncube, who was driving, sped through a red robot.

“He went through the sun-roof of the vehicle when it rolled several times. It landed on its wheels near Geozing Pawnbrokers shop. He hit his head on the road and I think he died instantly,” said one of the witnesses.

Contacted for comment, police spokesperson for Bulawayo, Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo confirmed the accident. “I confirm the incident. Police investigations are under way. One person died on the spot while two others were rushed to UBH,” said Insp Moyo.

Ncube was nicknamed Bogus or Matigari in journalism circles because of his penchant for sensational stories.
