JSC mourns Justice Mandeya

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the passing of Retired Administrative Court Judge, Justice Herbert Mandeya.

He died in Harare on Saturday.

In a statement, the Chief Justice of Zimbabwe and Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Justice Luke Malaba, extended his condolences to the Mandeya family.

Justice Mandeya died at Westend Hospital in Harare, and mourners are gathered at Number 339 Gletwin Road, Gletwin, Harare.

He was appointed Judge of the Administrative Court on May 26,2009, a position he held until his retirement in 2024.

Justice Mandeya studied law at the University of South Africa, graduating with a Bachelor of Law Studies degree in 1986.

In 1991, he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Zimbabwe.

He was sworn in as a magistrate in 1988 and rose through the ranks to become a Regional Magistrate in April 1998.

He served as the Chief Magistrate of Zimbabwe from 2005 to 2009 before his elevation to the Administrative Court bench.

Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
