Judgment Yard billed for tonight

Judgment Yard, a collective of dancehall DJs, are billed to perform at Jock and Saddle with reggae band Legendary Sounds going live on stage at club Forty40.

Speaking in an interview, a member of the Ballers League and organiser of the Judgment Yard show, Babongile Sikhonjwa, said people should look forward to a scintillating event as the show was the first of its kind hence people should come in their numbers.

“Judgment Yard is one of the biggest dancehall collectives in the country and on Friday they are going to show why that is so. This show will be the first of its kind and will be filled with a lot of surprises,” he said.

Sikhonjwa said as Ballers League they prided themselves in being the first in doing things and this show was in line with that thinking.

“We are proud to be the first in bringing Judgment Yard to the city, which is only befitting because after all, it was Ballers League who initiated the Reggae Nights in Bulawayo,” he said.

He said that the crew will be recording its new project, Judgment Yard Volume 16, live at the event while 400 CDs of their previous project will be given away on the night. Copies of the group’s previous projects will also be on sale during the show.

Reggae outfit Legendary Sounds will be at the Club Forty doing a live show for fans of the genre.

General manager at the establishment, Andrew Dzombe, said they had decided to bring the group to the joint because they felt that it was time for revellers to get a taste of a live band.

“We have been bringing top-notch entertainment to revellers on Fridays and we felt that for this week we should bring in a live band. Previously we have brought exciting dancers like Bev and Zoey, but this will be by all means a more mellowed occasion,” he said.

Dzombe said revellers should look forward to more shows as the club was already in the process of engaging with entertainers who would be rocking the club soon. Previously, prominent radio personalities like Tich Mataz and Kudzi Marudza have graced the club.

“Forty40 will be bringing in more exciting entertainment to the city. We will not be stopping with the likes of Mataz and Legendary Sounds and people should brace themselves for more top-notch entertainment,” he said.

He said people should look out for the club’s other activities like the Ladies Night hosted on Thursdays by Sharon Dee and the Saturday parties which feature a host of DJs on rotation throughout the night.
