Judgment Yard books 3 shows for 1 night

Leading sound system — Judgment Yard is caught up in a triple booking scam involving New Year’s Eve shows — one in Victoria Falls and two in Harare.

The popular duo of DJ Flevah and emcee Etherton Beenie are expected to turn up for all the three shows in one night, a situation which has left many confused as to where exactly the two will perform.

Judgment Yard which was in Bulawayo last weekend for a performance at Hartsfield TshisaNyama is slated to feature at the ‘Fill Up the HICC’ gig alongside Jah Prayzah and Oliver Mtukudzi on December 31, then they are the headlining acts at the ‘Castle Lite Block Party’ which is again pencilled for the same day at Westgate Shopping Mall and last but not least, they are also billed to perform in Victoria Falls at the Jameson Victoria Falls Carnival.

Reached for comment, DJ Flevah could neither confirm nor deny the fraud, but blamed the carnival organisers for what he called a ‘mistake’.

“They made a mistake by advertising that we’ll (him and Etherton) be playing at the carnival. Instead, it’s 2Bad and Abisha (Palmer) who’re playing in Vic Falls,” said DJ Flevah.

On the carnival website, Flevah and Etherton’s image is appearing on the artistes’ line-up something Flevah quickly rectified saying the organisers needed to quickly put up Abisha and 2Bad’s image. Abisha and 2Bad are also part of Judgement Yard though it is the duo of Flevah and Etherton that is most popular.

“2Bad and Abisha are doing Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls guys made a mistake and I don’t know how they missed the pictures. Judgment Yard has two DJs and two emcees and we’re all equally good. The other guys will do Victoria Falls while we take care of business in Harare.”

Musicians and DJs are fond of double booking shows during this time of the year as they try to maximise profits during the festive season. –
