JUJU allegations have rattled the Harare City Council after suspected cat faeces, a dead bird and peanuts were discovered outside the office of newly-appointed chamber secretary Mr Warren Chiwawa and in his parking spot.
According to sources within Town House, the faeces were smeared on his office door early in the morning, sparking immediate concern among staff.
The dead bird and peanuts were reportedly found within his parking bay, prompting fears that someone was trying to bewitch him.
Mr Chiwawa confirmed the developments.
“Someone has been performing black magic at my office and car park bay since last week. It is scary,” he said.
A witness said, “I was shocked to see a dead bird and some peanuts inside Mr Chiwawa’s parking bay when I arrived at Town House on Monday morning.
“It was the only bay that had such a thing; it was really frightening. I don’t know what is happening, but things seem bad. As someone just passing by, I took a picture because I was so surprised.”
Workers described the atmosphere as tense and uneasy, with some expressing fear over entering certain sections of the building.
“People are shaken. These are not things you see every day, especially in a professional environment,” said one employee who declined to be named.
One of the workers who removed the items said, “We sprinkled salt on the faeces, dead bird and peanuts before flushing them down a drain.”.
Colleagues say the developments have cast a shadow over what was expected to be a fresh start in his position.
Incidents involving suspected juju practices, though rare in formal workplaces, are not unheard of in some communities, often stirring fear and speculation when they occur.
As uncertainty lingers, council workers are hoping for clarity and reassurance, amid growing calls for increased security and swift action to restore normalcy within the institution.
