The EJCC is a tournament meant to develop the skills and spirit of cricket at the junior level and Zimbabwe has been invited to take part in this year’s edition.
Namibia, Botswana, and Mozambique are the other countries who will grace this year’s event.
Mozambique and Botswana will, however, field their U-21 teams because their standards in the game are still of a low class.
Nick Fingo, the ZC manager for National Development, said Zimbabwe was ready to make an impact at the tournament.
“The tournament is being hosted by Eastern Franchise of South Africa and we have been invited to take part along with other countries.
“The matches will be played in two formats of the Twenty20 and 40overs.
“We have selected players from the just-ended Junior Inter-Franchise tournaments held across the country recently,” said Fingo.
The U-13 team will be going first in June for a series of games down the Limpopo in the same event.
The Zimbabwe’s U-16 and U-18 finished top in last year’s tournament, while the U-14 will be making their maiden appearance.
