Zvishavane derby history

Friday and this town can hardly wait for the showdown.
The arrival of FC Platinum has created a lot of interest in the Premiership in Zvishavane and fans have been waiting for the derby since day one.
FC Platinum, whose support base is in Mandava, will start as favourites.
But Shabanie, who have been beaten three times in three games, are ready for battle.
“We have done our homework. We urge fans to come in their numbers,” said Chinda Boys’ captain Michael Mageja.
“We disappointed against Highlanders, Chicken Inn and CAPS United but I want to assure them that come Friday evening everyone will be celebrating our first set of points under our caretaker coach Arnold Jani.
“Our team is made up of unknown soldiers and everyone in the team is important. There is no one who is better than the other and we play as a team.
“I am appealing to our fans to support us for the entire match and come Monday I kindly ask them to rally behind FC Platinum when they play Gunners as we will be playing away.”
The 29-year-old captain said Shabanie and FC Platinum needed each other to retain interest in the Premiership in Zvishavane.
“We need FC Platinum in the town as much as they need us and we must only be rivals in two matches which we play against each other,” said Mageja.
“I will never let our fans down and the last time we played them we won 1-0 and we will not be under pressure at all.
“I am going to score my first goal this season against them.”
FC Platinum skipper Zephaniah Ngodzo is also a confident man going into the battle.
“We are treating the game just like any other match. I am not singling out any player to carry the day for us as we play as a team,” said Ngodzo.
“I hope Fair Play will prevail and that the best team of the day will win.
“We want to entertain our fans in Zvishavane and I am asking the Shabanie players to display Fair Play because the last time we met in the Zvishavane Invitational Trophy, it was like a war.
“We are all from the same town and we must play fairly not to behave as if the other team is coming from America.
“I am looking forward to the game and we expect to get a positive result.”
Shabanie caretaker coach Jani was handed a 0-4 mauling by red-hot CAPS United in his first game in charge.
“I am prepared and raring to go. We want to collect maximum points and I am looking forward to the whole team to work hard,” said Jani.
“If our supporters rally behind us we will win. The fans are very important. We have fans in Zvishavane, Africa and abroad. They might not be there but they will support us in spirit. We are capable of bringing positive results.
“I am very young and I have young assistants in Elvis (Muuya) Andrew (Chisunga) and we will be learning from Benjamin (Moyo) on Friday but we just want to warn him that anything can happen in football.
“I am hoping that Pardon (Marime) Rowan (Nenzou) Caleb (Masocha) David (Matsveru) and Lennon (Chisunga), my experienced players, will carry the day for us.”
Moyo, the FC Platinum coach, was in a relaxed mood yesterday.
“We started well and we have no major concerns. I just hope that being a derby it will rise to expectations but it is just as good as any other game,” he said.
“I hope it will be a good family day and it must be football not war. We need fans to enjoy the game and we will play to win. People should come out in their numbers to watch and accept the outcome.”
“Our players are looking forward to the game. Derbies are games for the players. We did not play well against Dynamos but it is now water under the bridge.
“If you fall you do not spend the whole day sleeping but you get up and move on. We are now looking at the next challenge.”
FC Platinum are likely to miss the services of Bekhi Ncube who was injured during the Dynamos game last week.
