Inter-provincial Junior Tournament.
The 2011 tournament, which starts tomorrow, will cater for different age-groups, ranging from the Under-11s to 19s for both boys and girls, and Zimbabwe have entered teams for all these sections.
This year’s tournament will be played at different places and cities in South Africa.
The Under-19 matches will be hosted by the Mother City – Cape Town – while the Under-16 matches will be played in Bloemfontein.
The Under-13s will be based in Pretoria.
Venues for the Under-11 and 14 matches were yet to be confirmed by late yesterday but according to Admire Magwaza, one of the six coaches who will be travelling with the Zimbabwe team for this tournament, the players will proceed to their respective centres once they land in Johannesburg this afternoon.
Magwaza, who will be in charge of the Zimbabwe Under-19 boys team, said they (the Under-19s) will catch a connecting flight to Cape Town for their matches which are set to start tomorrow and end on Wednesday next week.
The 2011 inter-provincial junior tournament will run from this Saturday to next Wednesday and the Zimbabwe team is scheduled to arrive back home on Thursday.
The Zimbabwe Under-19 team for this tournament will be made up of 10 players – five boys and five girls.
These are Faisal Hassan, Ryan Burl, Alex Roscoe, Kudzi Mukaratirwa, Dexter Herbst (all boys), Lauren Williams, Gugu Mkwananzi, Kirsty Easterbrook, Nomak Nkala and Stephanie Hobart (all girls).
Lorna Easterbrook will be in charge of the Girls Under-19 team in Cape Town.
Another top local junior squash coach Mashumba Mukumba will travel with the Zimbabwe Under-16 boys team to Bloemfontein and the side is made up of six players – Runyararo Kadyautumbe, Farai Nhau, Takunda Maswi, Bryn Turk, Dustin Sheehan and Kevin Flanklin.
Jimmy Dixon, Russel Williams, Declan Ranchod, Kavur Patel, Mayun Ladd and J. Prior will represent Zimbabwe in the boys Under-14 section during the South African Inter-provincial Junior Tournament. Sima Dixon will be in charge of the team. Mike Lawton (coach) and Paul Kersten (manager) will handle the Zimbabwe Under-13 boys team of Justin Kersten, Anesu Mlambo, Kombo Pashapa, Tristan Hobart, Callum Lawton and Tendai Makaruka.
Jason Frankin, Jason Burl, Panashe Mlambo, Miguel Roscoe, Tinotenda Maswi and Declan Ralphs will play for the Zimbabwe Under-11 boys team during the same tournament in South Africa.

Magwaza also said that they were expecting some good results from the Zimbabwe junior team during the five-day 2011 South African Inter-provincial Junior Tournament.
“All the players in the team are talented and some of them have the potential of becoming the country’s top squash players if they are given proper guidance.
“And looking at the team which we are travelling with to South Africa, I can see us returning home with more than two age-group titles. All the players are more than ready to compete in this tournament,” Magwaza said.
He, however, said they don’t know the strength of their opponents in South Africa but was quite sure that the tournament has attracted the cream of that country’s junior squash players.
“Normally, the South African Inter-provincial Junior Tournament attracts, or brings together, that country’s top young squash players and this year’s event is no exception.
“So, we are expecting some tough competition for our players but I’m quite convinced that they will hold their own and carry the country’s flag high during this year’s tournament in South Africa,” Magwaza said.
