A DAY after an H-Metro report revealed that a policeman committed suicide after heavy losses in betting, our lenses captured another police officer in a betting shop in Harare yesterday.
Ironically, the police officer was captured while he was looking at a screen, which was displaying the Aviator Game, in the betting shop.
However, the policeman’s mission in the betting shop could not be established yesterday. The Aviator Game, which is widely known as Kandege in this country, has captured the imagination of tens of thousands of punters.
It is also very popular in other African countries like South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. It is the most popular betting game on the continent right now.
Kandege claimed its first casualty after a Gweru police officer committed suicide after losing borrowed money chasing his sports betting dream.
Jele downed an unidentified poison shortly afteft a suicidal note before downing an unidentified poison.
Impeccable sources close to his camp told H-Metro that he lost US$3000 he had borrowed.
“Officer vakakwereta mari ikanyudzwa nechindege.
“Zvavaremera kudzosa uye kuwana counseling kwakuzvitorera upenyu,” said the source.”
Kandege has also resulted in a man, who used to work at Bakers Inn, being sent to prison after he used his employer’s money to try his luck.
