JUST IN: 5 more people succumb to Covid-19

FIVE more people have succumbed to Covid-19 in Zimbabwe bringing death toll to 1 398 while 59 others tested positive to the global pandemic in the last 24 hours.

The five deaths were recorded in Harare, Mashonaland Central and Masvingo.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care show that a total of 1 318 tests were conducted yesterday and the positivity rate now stands at 4.5 percent.

Of the 59 new cases recorded, the highest were from Bulawayo (23), 18 from Harare, seven from Matabeleland South and three from Mashonaland Central province.

Midlands, Mashonaland East and Manicaland recorded two new cases each while Matabeleland North and Masvingo recorded one new case each.

“As at 13 February 2021, Zimbabwe had 35 104 confirmed cases, including 30 089 recoveries and 1 398 deaths. Of the 3 619 cases, 101 are hospitalized in different institutions,” says the Ministry. – @thamamoe
