JUST IN: Covid-19 claims 10 more people

THE country recorded 10 more Covid-19 deaths and 50 new cases yesterday at a time when 109 patients suffering from the virus are hospitalised countrywide.

Five new deaths were recorded in Harare, two in Manicaland while Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Matabeleland South recorded one death each.

In its latest update, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said all the new 50 Covid-19 cases are local transmissions.

“Harare had the highest number with 14 cases. There are 109 hospitalized cases, eight asymptomatic, 59 mild to moderate, 39 severe cases and three intensive care unit,” said the ministry.

It said the country recoded 158 new recoveries. The National recovery rate now stands at 87,3% and active cases went down to 3 053 today.

The country has so far recorded 35 222 cases, 30 759 recoveries and 1 410 deaths.
