JUST IN: ITF U18 J5 second-leg kicks off in Bulawayo

THIRD seed Tadiwanashe Mauchi powered to the second-round of the Under-18 International Tennis Federation (ITF) second leg J5 Bulawayo 2021 Tennis Tournament by dismissing Tadisa Chamisa 6-1,6-1 in the girls’ event at Bulawayo Country Club on Monday.

The tournament’s second seed Tanyaradzwa Midzi beat Ruvarashe Magarira 6-0, 6-1, while Chelsea Chakanyuka beat United States-based Koronayashe Rugara 6-2, 6-4 and Nicole Matukutire beat South African Aimee Grace Hulett 6-0, 6-2 to progress to the second-round.

In the boy’s category, Benedict Badza beat Jayden Pakkiri 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and Zamani Moyo beat Botswana’s Mark Nava 6-0, 0-6, 6-2, while Shane Tapera got the better of Great Britain’s Tavis Wright lost 6-0, 6-1.

Zimbabwe’s top ranked player Ethan Sibanda is set to take on South African Daniel Crowie in the first-round.

Sibanda lost the first-leg final to top seeded South African Andreas Scott (17) 4-6, 1-6 on Saturday. – @innocentskizoe
