JUST IN: Man crushed by train in Bulawayo

A man died after he was run over by a train while walking along the railway near Bulawayo station while listening to music through his headphones.

In a statement, the National Railways of Zimbabwe said the incident happened on Tuesday at around 12.55PM.

“The NRZ is saddened to announce yet another death on its tracks today. A man was run over by a locomotive near Bulawayo station at 1255 Hours.

He was listening to music through earphones. Police are currently at the scene to ascertain his identity,” read the statement.

The NRZ said the death is the third in two days following two fatal incidents reported on Monday.

“The NRZ urges the public to be cautious when walking close to railway tracks and not to put on earphones,” read the statement.
