FOLLOWING a long injury layoff, Warriors’ captain Knowledge Musona marked his return to fitness with a bang by scoring a brace for his Belgian topflight side AS Eupen.
This should puta a smile to the senior men’s national team coach Zdravko Logarusic, who is facing a strikers’ crisis for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia.
Zimbabwe travel to Botswana for a penultimate Group H game on March 25 before hosting Zambia four days later in Harare.
Musona played 70 minutes in his team’s 2-0 away win at Sint-Truiden on February 28 and went on to play a part in the 1-0 cup game win against Gent in his next game.
He again struck a brace in last Saturday’s 3-3 draw with OH Leuven.
The talismanic Warriors captain, scorer of one of the two goals in the 2-2 draw against African champions Algeria in Harare, is likely to lead Zimbabwe’s frontline in the absence of France-based Tino Kadewere and the injured Prince Dube. – @ZililoR
