A COUPLE has been arrested after they secretly buried their one-year-old daughter who died after sustaining injuries during a fight between her parents.
Police said the suspects reportedly buried the baby along Ruzawi River in Cherutombo, Marondera.
“Police in Marondera are investigating a case of suspected murder, which occurred in Cherutombo, 6 August where a couple secretly buried their one-year-old daughter along Ruzawi River.
“The duo fought whilst the child was strapped to the mother’s back 1 August and the child fell sick afterwards. The parents took her to a local clinic before going to a traditional healer and she died. Police received information on the secret burial and exhumed the body for post mortem,” said the police.
The police added: “In another incident police in Figtree arrested Marvellous Ncube (34) for murder in which a man (43) died on admission at United Bulawayo Hospitals after he was hit by the suspect with a log on 6 August following an argument over beer and money”.
Police have urged members of the public to desist from engaging in violence when faced with disputes.
