JUST IN: Treated water goes to waste

Blessings Chidakwa  Municipal Reporter
Treated council water has been going to waste for more than a week now in the central business district as Harare City Council officials are failing to attend to a water burst.
The gushing water at a pavement along George Silundika Avenue is also giving passersby a hard time.
Despite perennial water challenges the city is facing, Harare continues to lose at least 50 percent of its treated water daily due to leakages.
The water being lost is also a burden to ratepayers as the council uses millions of dollars of their money monthly to procure the essential water purification chemicals.
The city centre has not been getting the attention it deserves over the years since the opposition took over the reigns at the start of the millenium.
