Justice Chatukuta burial tomorrow

SUPREME Court judge, Justice Feliciah Chatukuta, will be laid to rest at Glen Forest Memorial Park tomorrow, as announced in a statement by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) earlier today.

The legal luminary died on Saturday aged 63.

A solemn memorial service was held in her honour at Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour, located along Herbert Chitepo Avenue in Harare.

From 11:00 am to 13:00 pm, family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects before accompanying her to her home.

Tomorrow, mourners will convene once again at her home for a church service starting at 9am. Around 11.30am, the solemn procession will depart for Glen Forest Memorial Park where Justice Chatukuta will be laid to rest.

Justice Chatukuta’s passing marks an irreplaceable loss, not only for her family and loved ones but also for the nation, the Judiciary and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Her illustrious career, spanning decades, was a testament to her unwavering dedication to justice, her humility and her tireless efforts in upholding the rule of law.

Beyond her professional achievements, she was a guiding light and mentor to countless judicial officers, particularly within the magistracy and the broader legal fraternity.

“We mourn the departure of a jurist who played an instrumental role in shaping our jurisprudence and strengthening the delivery of justice in Zimbabwe,” the JSC said in their heartfelt statement. “Our deepest condolences go out to her husband, children, family, the Judiciary, and the entire legal community.”

The JSC implored the family, relatives, colleagues, and friends of Honourable Justice Chatukuta to find solace in the profound impact of her legacy and the love she shared with those around her.
