Victoria Falls-based songstress JustLeo is set to fly the resort city’s flag high when she takes to the stage at the Jacaranda Music Festival in Harare next month.
The three-day festival, which runs from October 2 to 4, will bring together a diverse line-up of musicians and performers, with JustLeo scheduled to perform on the final day alongside fellow
Matabeleland artistes Nizhe De Soul and Mandie Mae.
Other artistes billed to perform include Zee Nxumalo, Cairo, Fusion 5 Mangwiro, Minister Michael Mahendere, DJ Young Vibes, Thando Lewandoski, MJ The DJ, Enhle and Mookomba.
For JustLeo, the festival marks an important milestone in her musical journey as she moves from being an audience member to performing on one of the country’s prominent music stages.
“I’ve attended the Jacaranda Festival before, but I’ve never had the opportunity to perform on its stage. So, performing this year through the Music Connects Africa Programme, in partnership with the British Council and Kaymedia, is particularly important for me.
“It marks a new chapter in my journey and a significant milestone in my growth as an artist,” she said.
JustLeo said she was looking forward to showcasing her music, culture and the sounds of Victoria Falls to festivalgoers.
“I’m incredibly excited to bring my sound and my story to the Jacaranda Festival. It’s such a powerful platform for celebrating Zimbabwean and African creativity, and I’m honoured to be part of it.
“I’m coming with energy, rhythm, culture and a sound that represents where I come from. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one,” she said.
The songstress said audiences should expect an energetic performance that blends traditional and contemporary sounds.
“People should expect fireworks, and not just in energy, but in culture, language and sound. My performance is going to be a vibrant, multilingual experience that brings together the traditional and the contemporary.
“When I step onto that stage, I’m not coming alone. I’m bringing the Mighty Zambezi with me. I’m bringing the spirit, stories, languages and rhythms of home, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience JustLeo,” she said.
JustLeo has been steadily building her profile through performances and music projects, with her Victoria Falls roots playing a key role in shaping her sound and artistic identity.
