ZIMBABWE striker, Tinotenda Kadewere has recovered from a thigh injury that kept him on the sidelines since joining Spanish side Mallorca on a season’s loan from French club Lyon.

Kadewere, who suffered a serious injury to the quadriceps of his right leg on the eve of a highly anticipated Spanish LaLiga debut against reigning champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in September had been expected to return to action in December.

The striker, who is the first Zimbabwean to sign up for a Spanish LaLiga side, was an unused substitute on Sunday when Mallorca beat Villarreal 2-0 at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia on Sunday.

The victory moved Mallorca to position 12 with 16 points after 13 games.

Having regained fitness, Kadewere who is hoping to re-launch his career that had been marred by injuries will be hoping to be a regular at Mallorca.

After falling down the starting order at Lyon, the French side decided to loan Kadewere to Mallorca so that he gets game time.

In France, former Orlando Pirates defensive midfielder Marshal Munetsi recovered from a thigh muscle strain to make a second half appearance for Stade Reims who edged Nantes 1-0 on Sunday. Reims are on position 11 with 16 points after 14 matches.

Former national team skipper Knowledge Musona played the entire match as his Saudi Arabia side Al Tai lost 2-3 at home to Al Hilal. Musona’s side is on position seven with 15 points after eight games.

The former national team skipper has three goals in his name.

Zimbabwean midfielder Gerald Takwara who plies his trade in Saudi Arabia’s first division side Ohod is expected to be in action tonight when they face Al Kholood.

The 28-year-old Takwara moved to Ohod, who are on position 13 with 11 points after 10 matches in July. He has been a key member of their squad.

In England, Marvelous Nakamba failed to make it to Aston Villa’s match day squad that beat Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday. Nakamba continues to struggle to break into the squad and is yet to make an appearance on the field for Villa this season.

Things have not changed for Nakamba under Unai Emery after the Spaniard took over from Steven Gerrard last month.

The former Bantu Rover player has been on the bench for eight out of the 14 Villa games.

Meanwhile, Jordan Zemura was an unused substitute in Bournemouth’s 4-3 away defeat to Leeds in the English Premiership. The 22-year-old left back has made eight starts from the 14 games.  — @ZililoR
