Kadoma death toll rises

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the deaths. He said laboratory tests had not been concluded to establish the type of poison that could have claimed the lives of the six.
“As police, we are still carrying out investigations to unravel the cause of death of so many people and animals,” said Asst Insp Kohwera.
“We await the outcome of laboratory tests in Harare to get to the bottom of the matter.”
Three people have so far been discharged from the hospital, while one is still receiving treatment with his condition reportedly stable.
Tragedy struck at Hezelmare 19 Mine on September 27 when Gift Watungwa (37) went to a nearby grinding mill to have 20kg maize milled to prepare lunch later in the day.
On arrival, he requested for an empty sack to transfer his maize, but the attendant Norbert Mhazi said he did not have any. Watungwa then picked a bag that used to contain mealie-meal from the room and transferred his maize grain.
