Kadoma man jailed for indecent assault.

A 41-YEAR-OLD man from Eiffel Flats, Kadoma was sentenced to an effective 12 months imprisonment after facing two counts of indecent assault.

According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), he was arraigned before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court.

“Sometime in July 2024, the complainant’s mother left the 13-year-old complainant in the custody of the accused person’s wife, while she was away,” reads the statement.

On the 27th of July 2024, the accused person’s wife left the complainant and her children under the custody of the accused person, to attend a funeral.

“The following evening, the accused person took the complainant to the nearby shops. On their way back home, the accused person held the complainant, pressed her against a perimeter wall of a house which is along the way and put his hand into the complainant’s clothes, fondled her breasts and touched her privates,” said the NPAZ .

He stopped when he heard voices approaching and ran away whilst the complainant went home and locked herself inside.

“The accused person went back home where he found the complainant in the blankets and fondled the complainant’s breasts once more before trying to remove her clothes,” NPAZ said.

He hit the complainant’s mouth with an elbow during the tussle. The complainant fled to the neighbours’ where she narrated her ordeal to her mother over the phone.

“A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person,” added the NPAZ.
