Lovemore Chazingwa in Kadoma
The Kadoma Show Society has failed to present an audit of public funds handled by committees for five years in a row.
Both committees have been evasive on the subject, despite the High Court ordering them to revert to the 2019 management status.
National Association of Agricultural Show Societies of Zimbabwe chairperson, Godfrey Mavhankeni, highlighted that show societies across the country need harmonisation in the manner they handle public funds for the benefit of communities they operate in.
In 2019, a unified operation existed leading to a successful running of the organisation.
However, a boardroom mutiny led by secretary, Garikai Kapangula, saw vice-chairman, Crispen Dirawo, taking over as chair from Patson Madera.
Madera accused Kapangula and company of siphoning around US$30 000 after they removed him as one of the organisation’s bank account’s signatories.
Madera alleged the Kapangula worked in cahoots with treasurer, Luckson Munyai.
Kapangula shot down that figure, saying they bought a generator and answered other financial calls.
Madera and his backers established a committee they claimed was rightfully in charge of the organisation, but it thrown out by High Court judge, Justice Muzofa.
