The golfer played in the A & B Triangular in Botswana last year. Kahwema has one son and is a businesswoman.
“It is a great honour to get this post and I thank you all for the confidence you invested in me,” she said. Mayoress Fikile Masunda of Royal Harare Golf Club is the vice-president.
The outgoing president Thembi Moyo thanked her executive for a sterling job.
“I appreciate the support I received from provincial presidents Colleen Morgan (Harare), Nancy Dube (Midlands), Polly Crewe (Manicaland) and Rodnah Mutasa (Matabeleland).
“My acknowledgements also goes to the contributions of the convenors – Louise Ward (tournaments co-ordinator), Lindsay Israel (Handicapping/Course Assessing), Cath Riley (juniors coach), Alex
Stovold (Selection) and Helen van Rensburg (Public Relations Officer).
“I thank the Trustee Linda Turnbull for her support and advice. I thank the support of the key sponsors – the Royal and Ancient, Altfin, Chafferfly Enterprises, Stanbic Bank and Zimplats.”
Moyo said she would support the incoming leadership. The outgoing president received a standing ovation from the members for her contribution to the development of the game.
“I will now enjoy a break from golf administration, and would be able to concentrate on the enjoyment of being able to play golf,” Moyo said.
