Kaindu talks tough on discipline

HOW Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu has stressed the need for discipline at his new club saying that was the only key to success in the forthcoming season. Kaindu officially started duty at the Metallon Gold sponsored club last Monday after he was issued with a work permit.  With issues of indiscipline having taken centre stage during a disastrous 2015 outing for Chikurupati which saw them come close to relegation, all eyes will be on how the Zambian reins in on truancy.

Last season How Mine were forced to de-register star player Charles Sibanda during the second half when the 2010 Soccer Star of the Year suffered injuries in a car accident.
At Triangle, Kaindu also faced unbecoming behaviour from the players who are said to have sneaked out of camp to drink beer after their 5-0 drubbing by Harare City in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-finals.

With that in mind, Kaindu emphasised on the need to work on discipline in order to achieve set goals for the year, which the Zambian believes should be taken as a strong foundation for success.

“There is a lot that needs to be done, we have to try restore discipline in the team, and then from there we know where we are heading to. We cannot go into any competition without any targets. We have got enough depth, if we manage the issue of discipline, you can’t go anywhere without discipline. Discipline shall be seen in the team, we have seen some improvement there,’’ said Kaindu.

On his final squad for the season, the former Highlanders coach disclosed the team was already there and almost complete.
With the gold miners having gone on a shopping spree last season Kaindu said they were not making any big signings this season.

Some of the players who have signed up for How Mine are Pasca Manhanga, Praise Tonha both formerly with Triangle, Toto Banda, Marshall Machazane, Kudzai Chideu and Tsepo Rantokoane.

“The team is almost done, there are one or two positions we are still looking at, and we have enough players. How Mine did a lot of signing last season, there was no way we could sign more players, we need to push the players who are already there,’’ said Kaindu.

He added that his dream was to build a strong development structure so that in the next few years, How Mine were well established in the league.
Kaindu believes that with the kind of sponsorship that the club enjoys, there was no way they could be struggling like what transpired last season.

Kaindu walked out of Triangle after fulfilling just one year of his two year deal at the Tongaat Hulett sponsored club. He has not publicly disclosed the reasons why he ditched a club which he transformed, and watched as it stood out with the leading pack for the bulk of last season.
