Kaizer Chiefs deny ‘flawed’ report over Hadebe sale

Kaizer Chiefs have broken their silence on whether they are facing a ban following their involvement in the transfer of Teenage Hadebe.

The Soweto giants on Monday evening “categorically” denied reports coming out of Zimbabwe claiming the club will face a transfer ban after green-lighting the sale of Hadebe to Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor.

Amakhosi lured Hadebe from Zimbabwe’s Chicken Inn during the 2017 transfer window before leaving the South African outfit in 2019 for Turkey’s Malatyaspor.

The 27-year-old is now on the books of Houston Dynamo FC in the United States.

Chicken Inn claims that there was a clause in their contract with Chiefs, stating that if Hadebe would be sold that they would benefit financially.

According to Zimbabwe publication Sunday News, world leading football body FIFA has ordered Chiefs to pay Chicken Inn more than R350 000.

However, Chiefs have attempted to defuse all confusion with a brief statement via their official Twitter account.

“Kaizer Chiefs note the reports that are making rounds relating to the transfer of Teenage Hadebe.

“Some news reports say: ‘Initially, indications are that Hadebe joined the Turkey club as a free agent. However, it was unearthed that the Arthur Zwane-coached side indeed sold him, albeit for an undisclosed fee.’

“The club would like to categorically dismiss the reports as flawed and misleading. Kaizer Chiefs have fulfilled all the obligations in the transfer of Hadebe.”

This is not the first time Chiefs are in the spotlight over a transfer controversy. In 2018, FIFA found the club guilty of wrongdoing and they served a two-year transfer ban for their involvement in the transfer of Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana.

FIFA punished Chiefs for not paying Dax’s former club Fosa Juniors the amount owed due to the breaching of his contract back in December 2018. – News24.com.
