Kamambo intends to file for exception

Herald Reporter
ZIMBABWE Football Association (ZIFA) president Felton Kamambo yesterday indicated that he wants to file an application for exception to the bribery charges he is facing.

Through his lawyer, Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara, Kamambo told the court that he will file his application before end of business today.

Kamambo is facing bribery charges after he allegedly paid some ZIFA councillors to vote for him during the elections for the ZIFA top post.

Adv Zhuwarara said he noted “something” on the State’s allegations which prompted him to seek for exception to the charges.

“We are going to make an application for exception when we return to court,” he said.

Adv Zhuwarara said he will file his application today, with Mr Michael Reza, representing the State, indicating that he will respond on October 8.

The trial was scheduled to start yesterday, but was deferred to today after Harare regional magistrate Mr Trynois Utahwashe failed to attend trial.
