Kangwa dares local strikers

FORMER Highlanders winger Bruce Kangwa has dared local strikers to beat the 14 goals bagged by ex-teammate Knox Mutizwa as the race for the top goal scorer for the 2016 campaign intensifies.

In what could be viewed as a sign that local strikers lack the bite in front of goal Kangwa left for Tanzanian club Azam more than two months ago but still ranks among the top goal scorers.

In fact, the Warriors player is third on the top goal scorersa�� chart with seven goals, two behind joint leaders Gift Mbweti and Leonard Tsipa of Hwange and Caps United respectively.

a�?Football is so unpredictable, ita��s difficult to rule out Mbweti and Tsipa scoring more than five goals before the end of the season. Five games is a lot and anything can happen. Ita��s always good for Zimbabwean football when strikers break records and aim higher,a��a�� said Kangwa from his base in Tanzania.

His former teammates at Highlanders are struggling to find the back of the net with brightest top goal scorer candidate young Prince Dube still stuck on four goals.

a�?Ia��m a fighter so if I was still at Highlanders I would have worked very hard to continue scoring goals. I really enjoyed working under the new coach (Erol Akbay), he brought in so many fresh and exciting ideas to the team,a�? he said.

The Premier Soccer League takes a break this weekend to make way for the quarter-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup to be played in various parts of the country.
