HIGHLANDERS’ winger Bruce Kangwa has signed a three-year contract with ambitious and cash rich Tanzanian giants Azam.
He was given jersey number 26.
The talented utility player put pen to paper yesterday afternoon in the presence of his manager George Deda.
Highlanders confirmed the departure of Kangwa.
“He sent us a message where he was thanking the club for clearing him to go,” said Bosso chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede.
An elated Kangwa thanked the Highlanders family for rallying behind him in his more than 10 years service to the club.
“I will always have Bosso at heart and wish them all the best this season. I also call upon our supporters to rally behind the team especially now that results are not coming even though I know that its only a matter of time before eyinye ingcwatshwa,” said Kangwa.
Deda could not reveal the financial details of the deal but said both parties were satisfied with the state of affairs.
“It’s a mutually beneficial agreement for all the parties involved. Bosso is happy, Azam is happy and certainly Bruce is happy. I want to thank Highlanders for releasing the boy,” said Deda.
Kangwa is believed to have gone with a prize tag of $30,000 while his signing on fee is $20,000.e is set to make his official Azam debut on August 17 in the Charity Shield against Young Africans before the Vodacom league gets underway on August 20.
He unknowingly bade Highlanders farewell with a goal in the second half as they beat Caps United 1-0 at Barbourfields Stadium.
He becomes the fourth Zimbabwean player to play in the clearly league of choice now after Method Mwanjali, Donald Ngoma and Thabani Kamusoka who are all playing for Young Africans.
