COMEDIAN-cum-musician Freddie “Kapfupi” Manjalima yesterday left Zimbabwe for London, together with Charles “Marabha” Merisi and gospel musician Lloyd Tevedzayi to perform at Stephanie Chiyangwa’s “Situation is Never Destiny” book launch. Stephanie is daughter to businessman Phillip Chiyangwa.
Speaking at the Harare International Airport before departure, Kapfupi who constantly checked his pockets to see if the passport was still there, said he was looking forward to his maiden trip to London.

“I have boarded the plane before, but it was stationary. This is my first time to fly. I am so excited,” he said.
Marabha said they would stage a memorable gig in London.

“It is our business to make people laugh. We are going to give it our best. Zimbabweans living in London should expect to laugh their lungs out,” he said.

Rising gospel protégé Tevedzai said it was a privilege to be part of the people who were going to perform at the event.
“It is a privilege and an opportunity for me to perform considering my background where l was raised by a single mother. After her death I faced rejection from relatives only to be adopted by the church. I do not know my father. I am not going to be singing only but also share my own life history and testify God’s grace,” he said.

The book is about hardships that people face in life and drives home the point that challenges should never make them failures but in fact help them to become established people.
Kapfupi was raised in a poor family and started acting when he was in Grade 4 before he moved to the First Street Mall, Harare in 1998.
