TEAM Zimbabwe to compete at the Africa Union Sports Council Region Five karate championships stepped up their preparations over the weekend with a training session at Old Hararians, where most of the fighters from across the country converged.
The event is set to run from May 26 to 28 in Harare, with countries from the Southern Africa Region expected to take part. Zimbabwe Karate Union national technical director semi-contact styles, Paul Danisa said they had most the fighters from outside Harare attending the weekend’s training session.
The team is made up of 80 fighters and they have been training in their respective basis for the past few months.
“We all met up at Old Hararians and I think I can say 80 percent of the team turned up because we had guys from Bulawayo, Masvingo and Midlands. I think everyone is raring to go.
“The guys are definitely ready to compete. I think I can safely say they are in the best condition they can be, given the limited exposure they get.
