Karate still active in Bulawayo

KARATE a favourite sport in the high density suburbs and mining communities in the 1970s to 1990s is still very active with ‘dojo’ in Tshabalala boasting of 63 members.

Sensei Branco Manyathela who is participating in the Bulawayo City Council Sports Economy Indaba, says his is a vibrant club with some members having represented the city and country in prestigious events such as the Region Five Games.

Manyathela is an instructor at the Tshabalala club and believes the sports indaba is key to opening opportunities for sports practitioners and service providers.

He took time to demonstrate some manouvres they do as karatekas.
