WITH the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League charging into full gear, all eyes turn to Kariba this weekend, where Yadah Stars lock horns with ZPC Kariba in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle.

The visitors know they’re walking into a cauldron. But for Yadah head coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe, the challenge is just another step in the grind, not an excuse to fold.

“It’s a difficult game, difficult like many others, but we’ll give it our best shot and hopefully walk away with something positive,” said Jongwe.

“Football isn’t based on history; every game is its own story, and today’s is no different.”

The Stars, however, won’t be at full strength. Key players, goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and right back Valentine Musarurwa, are both out due to suspension. Still, Jongwe isn’t losing sleep over it.

“We’ll be without Sibanda and Musarurwa, but we’re hopeful the guys who are available will rise to the occasion,” he said.

And while he’s open to strengthening the squad if the right talent becomes available, Jongwe insists his current group is up for the job.

“If quality players come, we’ll take them on board. But we already have a well-balanced squad,” he said.

With grit, belief, and a chip on their shoulder, Yadah Stars aim to leave a mark in Kariba, and perhaps come away with more than just experience.
