President Mnangagwa commissioned the Trabablas Interchange in Harare today, thereby paving way for its use after its closure for almost three years.

The interchange was immediately opened to traffic after its commissioning.

In his keynote address to a sizeable crowd in Harare South, President Mnangagwa commended local talent, including engineers, who saw the successful completion of the project.

“This landmark interchange connects three major roads, Simon Mazorodze, High Glen and Chitungwiza,” said President Mnangagwa.

“The project involved the construction of 15 major bridge structures, some as high as 18 metres above ground, with 13 of them directly on the interchange and two on Amalinda and Harare Drive.

“I also applaud the local engineers, planners, skilled artisans and construction workers for their dedication on this project.

“These abundant skills in our great motherland, Zimbabwe, should now be deployed for the modernisation of infrastructure across the entire SADC region and our African continent as a whole,” said the President.

The interchange is expected to reduce traffic congestion that had become synonymous with the area.
