DYNAMOS supporters might have found a new darling in Jairos Kasondo.

The lanky forward, who has scored in DeMbare’s last two games, has already won many hearts among the DeMbare legion of fans desperate to see their team escape relegation.

Kasondo was on target when he headed in the opening goal in the 2-0 win over GreenFuel at Rufaro on Sunday. He scored again last week when DeMbare thrashed Kwekwe United 3-0.

Despite not getting enough game time under previous coaches Lloyd Chigowe and Saul Chaminuka, even as DeMbare struggled in front of goal earlier this season, the former PAM United forward has shown signs he could be part of the solution to the scoring woes.

“I am happy to have scored because it shows a positive picture to the Dynamos fans and my teammates also feels comfortable having me play in that position because we have been failing to score,” he said.

“But I give thanks to the coach for motivating us to go the extra mile. Even the way the captain Emmanuel Jalai addresses the players motivates us each and every game.

“Our morale is high. I am sure we can survive if we keep the momentum,” said Kasondo.

DeMbare are slowly working their way out of relegation, having won three of their last assignments. They still have a long way to go, however, as they sit second from the bottom with 25 points.

“There is a huge difference because when you are not winning there are many bad things that are said about the team. Some of the things are demoralising.

“But now the team is winning, people are also speaking positively about Dynamos and it’s something that is motivating us to work hard,” said Kasondo.

His ambition is to fly high in DeMbare colours.

“When I arrived here, I was told that Dynamos are a big team, so my target is to become a big player. So, for me Dynamos must not be relegated because that is the platform to shine,” said Kasondo.

Dynamos coach Kelvin Kaindu also believes in Kasondo’s potential.

“I just gave him confidence to believe and trust in himself,” said Kaindu.

“He hasn’t been starting in most of the games, but now he’s our main striker and for him to score in two consecutive games shows that he’s consistent.

“In the last game he was also able to create the goal for us and that is what we are looking for. I just hope that he keeps on his rhythm, he keeps on the strength that he’s showing in the field and maybe continue to score in each and every game that is coming,” said Kaindu.
