NGEZI Platinum’s Evans Katema believes winning the ZIFA Northern Region Division One 2015 player of the year award is great motivation for him as his side prepares to play in the Premier League next year. The dreadlocked striker was instrumental in the miners’ promotion into the elite league this year. Katema was voted the best player and walked away with a Toyota Corolla sponsored by World Navi and cash courtesy of PHD Ministries as Supreme Panel Beaters chipped in with the top goal scorer of the month and of year award.

Speaking after winning the accolade Katema who is known as “Vancho” said he was looking forward to the award considering the effort he had put in his work this season.

“It was not much of a surprise as I felt that we worked hard as a team and if it was not me then one of my teammates could have won the accolade. We worked very hard as a team and I think to be rewarded and getting the recognition is something, which makes someone continue to work hard and improve.

“There was a lot of competition but I just felt I had done enough this season,” Katema said. The former Mushowani Stars striker crossed the floor this season to join the miners who are coached by former Blackpool defender Clifton Kadurira.

He inspired Ngezi as they led from start to finish to get promotion.
