ALMOST all the teams were in action this weekend in the South African Absa Premier Soccer League with most Zimbabwean players plying their trade here taking part. Warriors’ striker Knowledge Musona was back in the starting line up after an injury when his team Kaizer Chiefs beat Free State Stars 2-0 at Charles Mopeli Stadium in Free State on Saturday evening.

Willard Katsande was on top of his game as he managed to marshal the Chiefs’ midfield with great aplomb.

On Saturday evening at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, former Dynamos striker Roderick Mutuma’s Bloemfontein Celtic won 3-2 against Caf Champions League finalists Orlando Pirates.

At Tuks Stadium in Pretoria, Warriors goalkeeper Washington Arubi and former Highlanders striker Obadiah Tarumbwa, who came on as a late substitute as their team Pretoria University demolished Warriors goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini’s team AmaZulu 2-0, had decent outings.

“We lost to a better team and that I believe will not hamper our upcoming games’ preparations it has uplifted morale in the camp. What we must do now is to keep focused and take all our next games as a cup final.

“We will rectify our mistakes and not ever allow ourselves to slip down on the log. At the moment we are satisfied with the top six position but our ambition is to end the Christmas break on position five. People must not judge us with the previous results, this will change from today,” former Highlanders and AmaZulu goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini said.

On Sunday afternoon at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria, the Warriors’ duo of Khama Billiat and Cuthbert Malajila’s Mamelodi Sundowns beat Gilbert Mapemba’s Moroka Swallows 2-1.

Malajila missed a golden opportunity before half time after Billiat set him up with a sitter.
