WILLARD Katsande’s future at MCM Northern Region Division One League side, Rangers FC, has been thrown into uncertainty following the sudden resignation of club president Thomas Chidzomba.

The businessman is also the main sponsor of the club. He was instrumental in bringing Katsande to Chinhoyi in a move, which flexed his ambitions for the club.

In a letter addressed to the team’s board of directors, members and supporters, Chidzomba said he was resigning from the club with immediate effect.

He said the decision to step down stems from personal circumstances that must remain confidential.

“I have weighed this matter carefully, always prioritising this club’s best interests and believe this step is necessary at this time,” said Chidzomba.

“Your unwavering commitment, passion and camaraderie have been the true heartbeat of Rangers FC and it has been my distinct honour to serve alongside you.

“Together, we have shared victories, faced challenges and built memories that will remain with me always.” He added: “The club patron will provide timely guidance on the appointment of my successor, ensuring a seamless transition and continued progress for our beloved club. Thank you once again for the trust you placed in me. I wish you all continued success and strength,”

Rangers FC team manager, Foster Medicine, told H- Metro, confirmed Chidzomba’s resignation.

“It’s true.”

Last month, Chidzomba announced the recruitment of Katsande in what was a bold move.

“Rangers Football Club hereby announces the appointment of Willard Katsande as the head coach of the club with immediate effect,” said Chidzomba.

“The appointment has been made as part of the club’s strategic effort to strengthen the technical department and position Rangers FC for its long-term ambition of competing in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.”
