FITTING in a new team setup is not always easy especially for foreigners, but Michelle Katsvairo seems to be hitting all the right knots of making a name for himself in South Africaa��s Absa Premier League.
In June 2016, former Chicken Inn centre forward, Katsvairo completed a quick fire move to Absa premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The 26-year-old Zimbabwean didna��t waste time in showing his capabilities as he has impressed in the early stages of the league, posting a top-drawer performance against Maritzburg United where he earned his first league start and lasted for 79 minutes in a match that saw the Naturena-based side claiming a 2-0 victory.
His coach Steve Komphela heaped praises on the player for showing sublime skill and movement as he set up William Twala for the second goal.
a�?Maritzburg United played with three defenders, but he (Katsvairo) was finding pockets of space for himself and helped open the defence. Ia��m happy with his performance,a�? said Komphela on the Kaizer Chiefs website.
A huge chunk of Zimbabwean players have found the going tough in the South African topflight league struggling to fit with the unlucky ones seeing their contracts terminated.
Players like Lincoln Zvasiya formerly with Kaizer Chiefs, Simba Sithole who had a season stint with Ajax Cape Town and Rodrick Mutuma who played for Bloemfontein Celtic returned home after failing to perform in the continenta��s richest league, though some might argue that they were not given enough time to adjust.
Katsvairo, however, seems to be following the footsteps of his Zimbabwean counterparts Khama Billiat (Mamelodi Sundowns), Tafadzwa Rusike (Maritzburg United) and Willard Katsande (Kaizer Chiefs) who were all Players of the Year in their respective clubs in the 2015-2016 Absa Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether the Zimbabwean forward will replicate his recent showings in the games to come.
Teammate Edmore Chirambaradare who was also signed in June and will also be relishing a chance to prove his worth as he has only featured in one league match for the Glamour boys.
